To say the past two months have been challenging and growth-promoting would probably be a gross understatement. My body is still playing catch up to the intense adrenalin fuelled (and coffee supported) ride that saw us drive over 3,000 km’s in two weeks. Oh – did I mention we had a 15-month-old in tow as well?
I think we have reached legendary status with a big splash of insanity!
But, alas, we made it through to the other side! You can read more about our great adventures below…While I jest, there was a serious expansion not only in our operations but also in me. Never before have I been so pushed as a business owner, a leader and a mother. I’m not ashamed to admit my vulnerabilities. In fact, I did it quite openly in this Facebook video.
One thing even those closest to me don’t realise, is I am a VERY sensitive and very self-critical. So, when you’re stressed, under pressure and have everyone wanting something from you, a huge amount of negative self-talk can creep in. Mix in sleep deprivation and you have a recipe for tears. BUT one thing I am super proud of myself for is my resilience.
No, I’m not perfect however my tenacity, in all its forms, has gotten me through the darkest times in my personal life and career. These are times that have taught me how to be a better mother, a better leader and a better business owner.
People will always judge us. They will always have an opinion. Some may project, deflect and mirror us but there are always lessons to be garnered. While I know I can always do things better, I (we) have to also praise ourselves for what we do right. For the fight we put up and the wins we take out.
Today, I am celebrating my wins and I hope you can do the same for yourself, too. Because at the end of the day, we are responsible for how we feel about ourselves. While it’s nice to get appreciation and accolades from outside sources, we shouldn’t rely on them for our self-worth.
After all, there’s no greater love than the love we have for ourselves.
So, what can you praise yourself for at this very moment? I bet there’s actually a lot… relish those…
Love, Laticia
